When will KitKat be fixed?!

This thread is a question directed to SONY employees. Please don't answer if you're not one of them. Don't try to hand me a line, make a statement. If you can't handle updating your own phone let us rollback to 4.3 via OTA.

P.S. I'm not going to wipe any data from my phone anymore.

It's a Mac version of PC Companion not SUS. Have you seen it?

No,I do not have MAC at home, but you can repair software with bridge just like you can do it with PCC or SUS.

Yep I found it.

You said "Rickard said the ringtone issue will be fixed in the next update(for both Z1 and Z1 compact)". You think it's time to try this repair/wipe action now?

Well,I do not want to suggest it or force you to do it and after that, the phone stays the same.

Look here for Rickard's posts:

As far as I know I can't export app settings before recovery to SD (kitkat) and after repair I'll have to download every app I have installed, set accounts... I'm more than happy to do it IF I'm sure I don't waste time to just flash firmware with the same bugs. Really, please explain. What do you think could be wrong with the first update? I'm pretty sure the image is checked by Sony Bridge/PCC (checksum). I had proper USB cable. I could think I'm unlucky but the same bugs with other units in other conditions... I don't buy it. It's my first Adnroid phone. Tell me I'm wrong.

it's the same for me. Sony Software Developers, kindly let us know the ETA by when you will be releasing build for the same as it is actually giving us a lot of problems.

Thanks/VJ

You can backup on google servers and after you repair, you can redownload all apps easily. Also, you can manually backup your settings for apps using a file explorer and moving them to your computer(MAC in your case).I do not know what to say, there is a lot of work to release an update, sometimes things go bad.

A stupid workaround that works to get the sound back to the speaker is:

go in "settings"

then "about"

then "diagnostics"

then "test device"

and do a speaker test..

The sound goes to the speaker and stay there at least until the next call.

*As my phone is in French language I'm not sure about the right words to go to the speaker test but I'm sure you get the point..

Here is the reply I received from Sony Support:

Thank you for contacting Sony Xperia Support.

We would like to apologize for the delay of our answer.

First of all we are sorry to hear you experience this issue on your Xperia™ Z1 Compact mobile phone. In order to solve the problem we would like to suggest you the following. You can try to force the device to shut down. Detach the cover of the micro SIM card slot. Using the tip of a pen or a similar object, press and hold down the OFF button until the device shuts down. Do not use overly sharp objects that could damage the OFF button. Then check whether the issue remains. No settings or personal data get deleted.

Sony Mobile Communications would like to provide an update in response to reports around abnormal audio functionality and quality; that some users may be experiencing on their Xperia Z1, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Compact devices after upgrading to Android 4.4; KitKat. We have identified this issue on some units of these models, and measures have been taken to swiftly deliver a solution for our users. A fix for the issues will be included in a new software release that will start rolling out from next week, with exact availability and timing varying by operator and market.
