Number "8" shows up as music note in text messages

I just started using my Z1 with T-Mobile, and I found something weird in my text messages app (the default one that comes with the phone). Whenever I receive a message with the number "8" in it, it (the number "8") would be replaced with a 16th music note. Like this one:

Does anyone else have this problem, and/or can someone provide me with a solution?

Thanks! Reinstalling the latest firmware seems to have fixed the issue. Maybe it was a bad application that caused it...
