Number "8" shows up as music note in text messages

I just started using my Z1 with T-Mobile, and I found something weird in my text messages app (the default one that comes with the phone). Whenever I receive a message with the number "8" in it, it (the number "8") would be replaced with a 16th music note. Like this one:

Does anyone else have this problem, and/or can someone provide me with a solution?

I can't see the picture, upload it to box.com and post the public link, also backup your sms/mms then

settings > apps > all > messaging > clear data/cache > restart your phone and check again

Sorry, I don't have a box.com account, but would this dropbox public link work? https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2906666/Screenshot_2014-01-29-20-10-23.png

I've tried your suggestions, but the problem still persists. However, it seems like the messenging app didn't delete my past messages when clearing data/cache.

That's so odd, do you have a third party keyboard?

I am using the stock Xperia Japanese keyboard.

Switch keyboards and see if you still get the same icon, it might be a bug with the japanese keyboard

Switching keyboards doesn't seem to solve the issue.
