NFC Pairing Issue

Hello Experts,

I have NFC enabled bluetooth headset, SBH-20

But whenever I pair it with Xperia ZR (C5502), BLUETOOTH automatically gets ON and I can see 2 icons on my phone (BLUETOOTH & NFC)

My question is, If I'm communicating wirelessly  via Bluetooth only then what is a use of NFC?

Why bluetooth icon gets acitvated when I pair NFC?

Kindly thow some light over this issue..

Thanks & Regards,

Anshul

Because NFC its too pair and bluetooth to transmit data, this should help you understand

http://www.androidauthority.com/what-is-nfc-270730/

...NFC has a range of around 10cm, just a few inches, Bluetooth connections can transmit data up to 10 meters or more from the source. Another drawback is that NFC is quite a bit slower than Bluetooth, transmitting data at a maximum speed of just 424 kbit/s, compared with 2.1 Mbit/s with Bluetooth 2.1 or around 1 Mbit/s with Bluetooth Low Energy...

NFC its an easy way to pair the headphones or smartwatch 2, just a tap and voila they are pair, instead of going through multiple menus, this is similar when you transfer files, its easy to pair two phones by taping them and then just transfer the files

Hi there,

Thank you for the response...

I did pair the two devices with NFC...

But the thing I am most concerned about is, why Bluetooth Icon gets appeared when I am communicating wirelessly through NFC?

Thanks a lot for solving the query. Slightly_smiling_Face

It seemsI would have to still stick with bluetooth 3.0 or 4.0... and NFC will only work promptly with Bank transactions related tasks. As the distance between my Xperia ZR and NFC supported SBH-20 bluetooth headset; would not be lesser than 10Cms in coming future at any case.. Slightly_smiling_Face

Thanks & Regards,

Hi I think It's a matter of bluetooth as after certain distance nfc automatically turns into bluetooth..In my case bluetooth was the culprit..and Sony replaced my set with the newer one..

Try to uncheck the throw settings. Sometimes it doesn't get connected to the desired nfc/bluetooth enabled gadget..In that case u should manually select it..
check the screen shots

and uncheck the throw settingsSo It won't automatically try to connect with the gadget...

Try
settings-->Xperia Connectivity --> Throw settings
You simply need to uncheck the automatically select the nfc/ Bluetooth gadget
And restart your phone...and.manually select the same via nfc or bluetooth
It worked for me 🙂
