Vaio VGN FW21L Tv Tuner? How do i get it?

Dear All,

I recently brought a sony vaio vgn fw21L on 16th jan and i can't seem to figure out how to watch tv on it. when i try to watch live tv it says that i do not have a tv tuner hardware on the system and i need to purchase one. What exactly is a tv tuner and how do i get it onto my system.

Furthermore, on startup my system seems to run abit slow and i was wondering if anyone has any tips on speeding up the system. Your help would be much appreciated.

Hi Subhan and welcome.

The FW-Series does not have a built in TV tuner.

If you want to watch TV you will need to buy a USB Tuner - like these: -

Decide what you want first as they come with plenty of options: -

Analogue or Digital(Freeview) or both
Do you need analogue video capture as well (old VHS videos or Camcorder video)
Do you need remote control

There are a lot to choose from about £15.

Right first i would like to thank you for your help. Secondly, what is analogue? Thirdly seeing as my labtop is full hd enabled and blueray, i want a tv tuner which enables you to record tv, has freeview, but i do not want the antenna ones or remotes. Would you be able ot help me look for one as im not looking to spend much?
