Sony Vaio PCG-FR315B RAM Upgrade Problem!

Hello, everybody! I have a Sony Vaio PCG-FR315B (GB) that comes with 256MB of RAM and I just bought 512MB RAM to upgrade. There's a big problem: the system (and the BIOS) recognize only 256MB or only 512MB; not both in the same time! It supports 1GB of RAM. There's need a BIOS UPDATE (even though, I can't find a new version!)? Or there must be 512 with 512 or 256 with 256? Please help! Thank's in advance! :slight_frown:

Thank you!
"buying the same type of memory that is now working (in my vaio:512 mb), will resolve the problem?

Yes it should be fine, unless there is a problem with the memory slot on your Vaio..

A large number of Club Vaio members have bought extra RAM from crucial.com also an added benefit from buying from Crucial is their memory compatibility guarantee. You'll have to check that they ship to Romania though..

To visit Crucial.com and view the compatible RAM for your PCG-FR315B Vaio use the following link: Crucial.com

Thank's! I think I'll buy one (512) because I'm afraid that the same kind memory will not work (I met these cases).
Do you think that a bios upgrade will solve my actual problem?

There is no BIOS update for your model.

I do not think this is the problem.
