New vaio Fw series, sound problems.

Hey,
First time posting here, got my vaio about 2 weeks ago (roughly) its the FW21L and after one week the screen just went black for some unknown reason, so anyway, sent it in and came back in a few days which is extremely good service! They replaced the motherboard.

Anyway, now the sound is starting to play up, it seems to pick and chose when it wants to actually play something out of it! fine at one point, not working the next, and the funny thing is, looking at the mixer on vista it seems to think its playing something?

I really have no idea what it could be, and i seem to remember this happening before i got it sent away for repair.

Any help would be greatly apreciated.

Have you tried attaching external speakers or headphones do you still have audio problems.?

Just did, same problem.
After phoning up sony they say its not very commen (great!)

One thing is for sure though, i am never buying from currys again, so many problems to start its unbeleivable! (no charger in the box, pre-installed settings etc..)(display model).

Hi cartmen56,

if you suspect your Vaio to be a display model have you run a Vaio recovery.?

To run the recovery click Start, All Programs, then Vaio Recovery Center..

Click Continue on the User Account Control window

Once the Vaio Recovery Center window opens

Select Restore C: Drive then press Start..

then follow the recovery wizard..

Unfortunatly i have to much already on here to do a restore =(
The guy on the phone did go through some stuff with me, deleting the drivers and doing a restore to 2 days earlier, both did not work.

No idea why it does it, something may be causing it because it works well one time, others it doesn't work at all! I have a feeling it may be msn, i had problems with it on my other computer (causing the touchpad to stop the side/bottom scroll) so it may be that, ill look into it anyway.
