Hi code159,
welcome to Club VAIO..
From what info I have been able to find the Sense: 03 ASC: 73 ASCQ: 03 = Power Calibration Area Error..
Have you tried using different make of media.?
Hi Thalamus,
thanks for answering and helping.
But unfortunately I'm not sure I understand what you mean
What do you mean with " different make of media." ?
Do you know what that " Power Calibration Area Error " means ?
I was trying to burn some pictures on a CD.
After loosing 4 CDs I quit trying.
Thanks again.
But unfortunately I'm not sure I understand what you mean
I did, I used one EMTEC, two different PHILIPS and the forth I don't remember, I already trow it away.
But I almost always use emtec or philips, and it always worked fine.
I installed McAfee internet security suite yesterday, before I was using the free Avast, and I started to have some doubts, but no viruses found.
I've looked around and tried to understand myself...
Someone, somewhere, was saying to uninstall the driver, to reboot, and the driver would install itself again automatically at reboot.
Is this true, and is it safe to do this?
Do you think it's worth trying?
Hi code159,
try this..
Click start ant type Device manager into the search box
Click on device manager from the list..
1)In device manager expand the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers and make sure that they all are using DMA mode..
2)Then check DVD/CD-Rom drives, are there any warning icons, if what error code is displayed.?
3)If there is not an error code try removing your DVD from device manager and reboot your Vaio and allow the DVD drive drivers to re-install..
Hi Thalamus,
I've checked it out :
1. All the IDE ATA/ATAPI devices where there is the possibility to enable (or disable) the DMA was enabled.
2. No warnings or error codes to be found... But something didn't look right :
In the first tab of the DVD device, the location is " Locatie 0 (Channel 0, Target 0, Lun 0) "I have no clue what this means, but all set at zero doesn't look right. Is it?
In the first tab of the DVD device, the location is " Locatie 0 (Channel 0, Target 0, Lun 0) "
In case I have to try your option number 3. , how do I do that?
Is it simply in the device manager where I select the matshita DVD and then click " undo installation " ? And then reboot and accept?
Hi,
I uninstalled the drive and reboot my PC, the drive has been reinstalled, but unfortunately the problem persists.
What else can I try?
Thx.
Thalamus? Anybody?
I really would like it to work, it's been months now.
Thx in advance.
