Ok Heres the SKinny
I got an M4 Aqua and Transfered my contacts and data from my previous phone(Samsung S4 Mini) to my M4 Aqua using Xperia Transfer
I have recently Factory Reset my phone and now i have a this xperia_transfer.zip folder from the original transfer.
i am now trying to import this data back into my M4 Aqua.
Any clue how i can do this?
I tried to contact sony support spoke to a guy named scott and was utterly dissapointed in the lack of help they could provide.

What you can try is to copy this file over to your old phone (or a thumbdrive if you don't have the old phone). Then use Xperia Transfer in PC Companion and follow the guide but skip the step where it asks you to download the Xperia Transfer app in the old phone as you already have the file it creates. When it asks you to connect the old phone, connect it (of the thumbdrive) and PC Companion will hopefully do another transfer from the file.
But before you perform a master reset i would recommend that you create a backup of your M4 Aqua using PC Companion or another backup application. Xperia Transfer is not really meant to serve as a backup of the phone. It's more a one time transfer of data.
Haven't used xperia transfer before but I think you need to extract the contacts .vcf file from there.
The ZIP File doesn't contain VCF it contains an XML File
That's unfortunate, don't know too much about xml except that office should be able to read it so you could open the file. Can you perhaps try to restore somehow with myphone explorer or similar apps?
Would that file not be a log or set of commands needed to run in order for the app to work
SO basically looks like it's unrecoverable
Alrighty
i have also posted to stackoverflow.
