M2/aqua message settings not working

I am trying t enter message settings (general message settings, not the ones i get when in a conversation-those work) and I get : unfortunately messaging has stopped.  this is my second big issue at the moment, as the accelelometer bug apparently has no resolve yet... any idea for this issue? i have tried restarting but nosucces.

I have  M2 AQUA.

p.s. tried booting in safe mode....problem present there as well

Just before entering PC Companion, and erasing everything I tried another thing derivated from what Thommo said

. I did not clear the data in the message app again, but in the Mesaging service app.

it usualy is located 2 apps down from the Message app.and it is marked with the blue print (from android files) -not sure what to call it.

That worked. I can enter settings again.

Thank You Thomo and Jake from support for helping me. I hope this information will be also helpfull for someone.

I only have the accelelometer issue now.

Try Settings - App and swipe to All, Locate and open Messaging and tap force stop, Clear data and Clear cache then reboot and test

Try performing a system repair using PC Companion as this will often fix issues - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data so best to backup before you begin

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

Hi greengumy,

You may also want to perform a backup of your content, as this will be removed with a software repair on the device. Use the link below to see how this can be done.
