Problem with memory stick

Hi, I have a PRS650 ereader, memory is not full yet, but purchased 4gb memory stick to download songs. Have downloaded a few songs, but don't know how to access the memory card after it's been inserted  into ereader. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi chrmusy,

It's a great idea to use a memory card to put music on for your Reader - it saves using up all the internal memory of your Reader as songs do eat up memory way faster than eBook files.

The answer to your question is that the songs on the memory card are automatically read by your PRS-650 without you needing to do anything - BUT you have to use the Reader Library software to transfer the music files to the memory card.

The way to do this is to first open the Reader Library software and connect your PRS-650 to your computer (with the USB cable).  In the menu down the left hand side of the software you should be able to see an icon for the Reader.  If you now insert your memory card into the slot on your PRS-650 you should notice that below the Reader icon in the Reader Library software, another similar icon now appears that says something like 'Memory Stick on Reader'.  this confirms that your computer can see both the PRS-650's internal memory, and the Memory Stick inserted into it.

If you now click on 'Computer' in this same menu on the left hand side of the software, you can navigate to the location on your computer where you store your music files (which will then be displayed in the main window of the Reader Library software).  Once you have these displayed you can drag and drop the files or folders over to the 'Memory Stick on Reader' icon itself and these will automatically be stored in the correct subfolder (in this case 'Audio') for you.

That's it.  You can disconnect your PRS-650 from the computer now, and whenever you have your memory card inserted into the Reader it will see the content you have transferred there.

If you select 'Applications' on the 'Home' menu of the PRS-650 and then press 'Audio' you should see your music.  The only indication that the music is on a memory card rather than the internal memory is that to the right of a track name on the PRS-650's display will be a small icon indicating which type of memeory card it is stored on.

Hope that helps - happy reading and listening!!
