Hi mizzie2003,

You can check if the PRS-300 is still registered to another user as follows: on the 'Home' menu, select 'Settings' and then 'About' on the following screen.  You will then see information about the Reader: at the bottom of the second paragraph that talks about Adobe, it will say whether the device is authorised or not.  In your case you really want this to say that is is not authorised, so that you can go ahead and register it to your computer.

If however the message here tells you that it is authorised, then to de-authorise it you need to do as below.  I assume that you have installed the Reader Library software on your PC - so start this and connect your Reader to your computer with the USB lead.  You should see that 'Reader' appears in the menu down the left hand side of your computer screen.  Click on this so that the main window of the software is showing the

contents of your Reader, and then press the Ctrl + Shift + D keys all at the same time.  If you now click on 'Status', also in the left hand menu, this should confirm that your Reader is de-authorised.  You can also check this on the Reader itself by first disconnecting it first from your computer (press the eject button - circled in the picture above - and unplug the USB cable) and then look under 'Settings' and 'About' again.

That should be it.  When you come to re-register your PRS-300 to yourself (you will be prompted automatically to do this the first time you try to transfer a copy-protected eBook) just make sure that you use the same Adobe ID registration as you did for your computer.

Hope that helps.
