Any help?
I have a Xperia 1 ii and have 2 issues with it.
1. after being switched off over night. When switched back on it cannot make or receive calls. Received calls DO NOT ring, just go straight to missed call message. When trying to make a call, the call just ends before ringing. I have to reboot the phone to get it to work correctly.
2. When calls do get through, I cannot answer the call, I cannot reject the call, all I get is a white screen for a few seconds then it returns to the call. I cannot do anything with the phone other than restart the phone to get it out of the call. I have noticed that even though the caller has hung up, my phone is still stuck in the call ringing.
Solutions tried so far, factory reset, I have returned the phone and got a replacement and the 2nd phone is doing exactly the same. I have a new sim card. I am with O2 if it makes any difference.
Test
- Open the Support app, tap device overview and see if there are app issues
- In the main screen scroll down and tap safe mode. In safe mode just pre-installed apps start up. No problems there? Then an app is causing trouble.
- Try the device without SD card inserted. (if there is one inserted)
- Try the device with another SIM card.
I'm sorry to hear about your issue
the phone will remain on safe mode unless you restart the phone, keeping the device on safe mode might not be the way to do as you won't be able to use most apps.
the next step will be to repair the phone with Xperia Companion, make sure to backup everything, but do clarify if you experienced the same issue while on Safe Mode
I know that is the issue with safe mode. I do not want to run the phone in safe mode permanently. I just want the phone to power on in safe mode to test the initial problem.
I'm either not explaining it very well or its something else.
How do I switch the phone off for many hours e.g. over night then when I switch it on in the morning, how do I get it to boot up in safe mode?
There is no point restarting the phone in safe mode, as restarting the phone in normal mode fixes it too.
Its the initial power up after being off for many hour like over night when it doesn't work.
This is the second Xperia 1ii that I have had and both do the same so I doubt companion will fix it as it didn't the first one. I will give it a try.
To start in safe mode, power up and keep power an vol/down pushed.
However this doesn't solve your problem.
You'd better do a software repair like @Uliwooly suggested and beware not to re-install all apps.
Just the most needed and install those from google play.
You wouldn't want to re-install trouble by restoring all the old stuff.
Oh ok, I get it, the only way to do so, will be to boot in safe mode at night and leave it on safe mode all night, the only way to get in safe mode is by restarting the device.
Thanks for the advice and finally understanding. I cannot test safe mode, as I cannot start the phone in safe mode. So when I restart the phone in either safe mode or normal mode it works.
I will try the repair. Do I wait until I have the issue or do it anytime? Even when the phone is working?
I do only have apps I use and they all come from play store.
It all depends, if you place or receive a lot of calls during the day then back up your phone and repair it, if you don't then restart the phone once a day. Even if you download apps from the playstore there could be an issue with one app that is causing this.
In other words, repair the phone whenever you find the time to do so.
Hi all,
Hoping my issue can be resolved here as it's pretty similar:
Often calls go straight to my voicemail - the phone doesn't even ring. I'll make calls and they drop out or not even connect.
What I've done so far:
- latest Sony/Android version (58.2.A.7.93 Android 12)
- I've done a factory reset; I've done a software repair via the Xperia companion
- I've got a new sim card from Vodafone (yep...), I've tried my wife's sim card
- my wife's with the same telco - she has no issues (she uses an iphone)
- the phone registered LTE+ and as soon as I hit the call button it will drop to H+ or H
- I've called Vodafone and they've talked me through some carrier resets etc...
- I have just uninstalled all apps which aren't pivotal to the phone being used and me managing life/work
So - not much has changed. Any ideas would be great - I really like this phone and it would be a shame for it to find its way into a bin.
Thanks in advance for any assistance
Best-
John
