Sony Xperia Z3 Network Counter Unlock

Have just had a quote from sony or should say from sbe ltd, all i needed was the network counter resetting ,everthing else was working on the phone ,they are trying to tell me that the phone is beyond economical repair, i phoned sony and they are telling me that to reset a phone you have to have a new motherboard is that right? and all sbe ltd want to do is sell me a phone for ££319.87 .

Why dont sony tell people that ,if this is right about the motherboard ,i would never of sent it for repair,its just a scam ,to get my phone back unrepair is £23.45 ,as i said if sony had told me about the motherboard would NEVER of sent it for repair.

Has anyone else had this happen to them?

I think there's something missing, what was the original issue?

I needed the network counter to be reset as the counter was on X and 0,which meant that when i try to put the sim unlock code in ,it would not work,as all five try had been used, so i could not put a new sim in,so i sent phone to SONY (SBE LTD) who do there repairs.
