Battery Drain after update to Android 5.1.1

After the update to firmware 14.6.A.0.368 my battery lasts 15 hours instead of 2 to 3 days like before.

I had a similar problem when I switched from 4.4 to 5.0.2 but at that time a factory reset fixed all the problems. So i tried to do the same this time. And at first I worked well and the battery life was back to normal. But after two days the problem reoccurred. So I repaired the phone via Sony PC Companion and that did the trick. But just until I turned my phone on and off and then I was experiencing the same battery drain again.

On "battery usage" screen I see that all apps keep the mobile broadband connection active for a long time, even longer than they actually use CPU time. So there seems to be a problem with the modem. I switched my modem settings to "GSM only" and now the battery drain is reduced. That works for the moment but that's certainly not a solution I want to live with in the long run.

I would be very grateful for advice to get rid of the problem

Are we saying that Google have recognised a definite bug in their software then, re: this battery drain issue?

I must say since updating to 5.1 (and factory resetting) my phone is running better than ever!!! Generally. The battery is okay apart from when I get down to the last 15/16%, I get the low battery warning and then it's about 15 or 20 minutes before the phone is powering itself down 

No short term fixes?

I agree. Other than  this bug this software release is the best so far. And yes, Goggle acknowledged this bug and fixed it for Android 6 but not yet (if ever) for Android 5.1.1.

The quick fix that worked for me is to switch to "GSM only". That isn't all that great, but at least I get through the day.

Same problem with my Z1 C. In my case Facebook is the main drainer, it takes about 30% of battery power even if i use it only occasionally, and battery life went from 2 and more days to barely one.

I've had the same identical problem with my previous phone, a Samsung. After an OS update it became unusable for battery drain and slow response.
One thing i learned from these issues: every phone is built for doing its best with the OS it has been built for, and it should never, never, NEVER be updated.

I'm very disappointed because i was very very happy with this phone, mainly for the battery life, the reason why i bought it.
My suspect is that this is a common solution for get rid of old phones and for having them replaced with new ones. Probably i'm wrong and i'm just thinking bad, but seeing how common is this problem, and seeing how google treats it (solving for new phones and letting older ones sinking) lets me think about it.

And also, shame on Sony. They can't just throw the ball to Google. They should have checked the OS before, and this is not a little bug difficult to see, it's a total disaster. I can't believe that Sony didn't know about it.

And at last, they could release a downgrade but they don't. As Samsung never did and i've had to toss my phone in the garbage. But I put a big cross over Samsung last year, and now i'm ready to put one on Sony.

At the end it's not worth it. I guess I'm not alone in my world of problems with the so called upgrades. Hmm, $600 and I still use my old flip phone for actually a phone... And it is better than my Z1 Compact right now.

I have this issue:

my battery can go from 80% to 1% in 1s, if I plug my phone on a charger and start again sometimes the battery can be back at 50-60% or stay at 1%... My phone is totally useless now with this bug.

anyone else have this problem? When will resolve this problem?

Carlo this would be discussed in a different topic, cause it seems to be an hardware failure of your battery/charger.

And now we know, that Sony won't update the C1 Compact to Android 6. So it is very likely that we will stuck with this bug. Thats just great

You will find good description of the necessary steps. I did it and my battery is usable again.
