Xperia XZ Premium deepsea black losing color at top edge

After almost 2 months of daily usage, my XZ Premium is losing color at the top edges and a little at the bottom edge aswell. It seems the varnish does not really withstand rubbing against cloth when the phone is being put into a pocket. Does anyone else have this problem?

From my experience, this will happen any time there's a bevelled edge on metal. I've had this identical issue with the iPad Mini, iPod Touch 5th/6th gen, HTC One, etc. There is no solution other than to use a case, which is why I've had mine in a case from the beginning. I did have it out for 2 weeks prior to receiving the case, but I avoided any contact with those 2 bevelled metal edges after my previous experience, and thankfully, they didn't get scratched.

I'm experiencing the same issue. I've only had my phone for three days and the paint near the headphone jack is already missing. Is this a manufacturing defect?

Actually we will meet this problem at top and bottom of the phone, even  at the volume press button and camrea button. They all covered with paint, when you use something scratch it,it will lose the paint color and show you the orginal metal one.......So there are no good solution and you have to take care of your phone,or .......scratch it and let it show silver color.....

I pre-ordered mine from the UK, so I've had it since release. I always carry mine in my pocket(s) and it still looks like new. I was under the impression that the aluminum parts on this phone are anodized. So it is not paint. It could be that the anodization process of certain batches was not done very well. I would contact Sony support for your location to see if they will warranty the unit. I have to say though that it appears as if you have something in your pocket besides the phone alone...keys, sand??? On your pictures it looks like something is scraping against the parts. You can see small scraping/wear lines. If not then it looks like something is wrong with the aluminum parts themselves.

I guess it just doesn't like the denim of my pants. There's nothing scratchy where I put the phone. Next time I'll get a case.
