(Solved) Unbelievably numerous dead pixels on front camera sensor

Problem(hot pixels) solved by August 2017 system update. Great update!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I found 24 dead pixels on my Xperia XZP front camera photo.

I've used many smartphones from different manufacturers and this is unbelievable.

Sony, do you even check the camera sensors before you put it in and seal the product?

What kind of quality control is this? For the 'Premium' product?

It might be very hard to see the dead pixels on the shrunk picture above, (It's a 13MP camera)

so here is the cropped picture of the lower left corner. Check out the red and white dots.

Or you can open the imgur link and open the original picture at 100% or magnify it more.

have you tried contacting your local service center? manufacturing errors and defective units happen with every product under the sun.

Of course I'm contacting the local service center, and I'm thinking of requesting a refund rather than a replacement.

Because some other people in my area started reporting the same problem after my post, and it's not just 1 or 2 dead pixels.

After that I can't help doubting that the whole current batch of XZP distributed to my area is in this trouble, and probably I won't be able to get a normal unit without defects through replacement, before Sony take this seriously and do something about it. So I'm just trying to notify them by this.

I'm already disappointed a lot and should go through a long way talking to the representative, resetting and repacking the device, sending the package back, getting admission about the defect from them, and waiting for whatever they offer losing my time and energy.

yeah, I understand your frustration with the whole thing. I only asked because some people only resort to posting about their issues in here without contacting support. the fact that other people in your area report the same problem is indeed worrying, I hope you'll get a fully working replacement.

also out of sheer curiosity, what's your region? I'm not asking for your hometown or street address Slightly_smiling_Face just a country or even just a part of the continent you're in. maybe it'll help someone from Sony with further investigations.

Well, I think they can track where I am by the product number stored in my Sony website account but, if you are curious, it's South Korea. Sony just started selling XZP in South Korea and the first units are delivered 3 days ago.

Is  this something that is visible when taking a selfie? Or is it only visible when taking a picture of a black piece of paper? Neutral_Face
