Hi Barbara and welcome to Club Vaio.

Please let us know the exact model Vaio.

Have you made any changes recently? Have you added memory? Have you updated drivers?

Are you using the original Sony Vista software?

Hi Blencogo,

thank you for your answer. Please excuse my horrable english, but it is not my mother language, I am from Germany.

I have bought this laptop on last saturday - 4 days ago. No hardware changes!

It is a Sony Vaio VGN-FW21E with original Software. After starting the Laptop I downloaded all Windows Vista and Vaio updates.

The only change was installation of Norton instead of Mc Afee.

Drivers downloads of Microsoft optical Mouse and driver of the WLAN CARD: Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link 5100.

My biggest problem is to install: java_ee_sdk-5_06-windows.exe. I urgently need it for further development expieriences.

But the first blue screen after 2 hours was also no good sign for me.
At this time I did my first exercises with this notebook and tried to activate T-online to go internet. T-online is the common telecom operator in Germany.

Thanks for help

Hi Barbara,

BCCode: 116 is usually a corrupt driver problem often related to the graphics driver.

I am not sure of the best way forward. If you phone Sony Support on Friday, I suspect they will ask you to reinstall the entire system.

If it was me, I would reinstall the original operating system, reapply the Microsoft and Vaio Updates ONLY and check if that works before changing the antivirus and any other software. Then load just one thing at a time to try to see what is causing the problem. You can download the Troubleshooting and Recovery Guide and follow the instructions for a full Recovery when you cannot start Windows. This involves tapping F10 during the boot process.

Alternatively, try to see the error message on the blue screen - you may have to turn off the 'automatic re-boot on error' feature.

Alternatively, phone Sony Support when they are next open.

Sorry I can't be more help.
