sony vaio SR29VN

Just bought this laptop but I cant seem to find the Windows Vista CD. I thought that this would be provided seperately as well as being pre-installed. I read the Recovery guide section on creating recovery discs and was wondering if this has something to do with the fact that there is no Windows Vista CD provided seperately. I.e. do you have to essentially create/burn your own Vista CD by creating recovery discs?

Would appreciate loads if someone could let me know.

Thanks

Hi j_shh and welcome.

In common with almost all manufacturers the Recovery software is held in a hidden partition on your hard drive. This includes Vista and other preinstalled software.

You can restore Vista and all the other preinstalled software from this partition or from a set of Recovery Discs (you will have to make these). This is always recommended in case you ever have a hard drive failure.

You don't get a Vista CD because the version of Vista is a Sony OEM version which can only be reinstalled on your particular Vaio.
