After wasting a reasonable amount of time with research, try and error I like to share with you how I made my good old ATI Radeon Mobility M6 based Notebook 3D DirectX capable. It is a Z1XEP, on which 3D Applications such as Google Earth didn't work properly. Either it went not at all or painfully slow in OpenGL mode. With some drivers I also got wonderful Blue Screens...
Finally, I found a combination which works really fine:
1. Go for the ATI Graphics Driver version 6.13.10.6243 of 1-15-2003
You might google this. Or drop me a PM...
2. Install DirectX Release 9.25
This is really easy to locate...
That's it !
It runs really well, performance is MUCH better than with the original drivers from Sony.
There are a lot of tips and tricks out in the net but none of them worked. Neither any other Release of ATI or OMEGA drivers did the job. Nor the famous "Mobility Modder" from DriverHeaven, which ought to tweak newer drivers from ATI to work also on the M6. I strongy recommend to keep your hands off...
Have fun
