Norton 360.2 Picks Up Bluetooth Software As Keylogger

Hello Everyone,

I have a FZ21S and have recently upgraded my Norton 360 to version 2. It picked up (Program Files/WIDCOMM/Bluetooth Software/BTtray.exe) as a keylogger.

To be safe I performed a vaio recovery and it is still there is this software that comes with the Vaio or have I been infected??

Hi Mig. Welcome to Club Vaio.

BTTray.exe is a normal part of your Bluetooth software - everyone with Widcomm bluetooth installed has it on their PC.

I have not heard of any infection that uses the system tray icon for bluetooth, so it would appear to be a false positive.

Another reason to add to the large pile of reasons why I will never use Norton.

If you are worried, email Symantec support.

Thanks for the quick response Blencogo. Will give Norton an email and see whats what.

What yould you reccomend these days for security? To be honest I only got norton because they had a 3 licence version, I am not there greatest fan.

Hi Mig,

Both Kaspersky and ZoneAlarm do excellent Security Suites with everything included (both include a 3 PC Licence for £30 on Amazon).

May be worth looking at these when your renewal comes up.

A little update: its now picked up microsoft office accounting's .exe as a keylogger. I suppose better safe than sorry but these guys should really be able to distinguish 2 common apps from malware.

I will probably go with kaspersky next time. Thanks for the tip.

Cheers again.
