My VGN-FE11S's extended warranty is coming to an end, so I thought it would be a good time to replace the god-awful OEM Matsh*ta DVD-RAM drive that comes with it.
I'd like to know if anyone has any experience with compatible, replacement drives that are (potentially) RPC1 and more reliable. Apart from the ridiculous unhackable region-lock annoyance - what is the point, exactly, apart from making sure you can't watch your own, legally-bought movies? - these drives are very choosy with the type of media they'll read. Right now, my one isn't reading ANY writeable discs at all, no matter what type or brand.
