I did the ultimate sin, upgraded to Vista, now my graphics card and RAM needs upgrading, this is despite running the 'am I Okay in rnning this software' download from Microsoft, and hey the never said you can't take off once it's on!!! However, I can't even get into the da*n thing!! Any ideas?????

You don't tell us much.
Did you make a set of Recovery discs? You should be able to reinstall XP using these Recovery Discs or the Recovery Partition unless you have formatted the whole disc.
What happens now when you turn it on? Do you get the Vaio Logo displayed? If so have you tried booting into Safe Mode and then installing a Vista nVidia driver?
