error code 2041

hello once again it's me on the scrounge for info.
I have a samsung U600 mobile phone, when I download videos I have recorded iether by bluetooth or cable it will not play on the quicktime player(this is the format by default that the phone uses.) the error message I receive is Error 2041 "a invalid sample description was found in the movie". I have tried to google it but it mostly points to registry cleaner software or discussions so technical I did not fully understand them. I have a sony vaio VGN-FW11E running Windows Vista home premium.

Any help and I will be eternally grateful.

Ho Bob W,

This is an old problem with Quicktime and I'm surprised they haven't fixed it yet.

If I remember, the workaround was to change the file extension of the video from .mp4 or .mov to .3gp and this fools Quicktime and allows the video to play.

The more easy answer is to use another player, both WMP and VLC will play the .mp4 files.
