HELP! hi all, i just sorted myself out with a wireless router to connect my laptop to my desktop sony VGC-LA1,and after many hours of frustration managed to get it connected, only to discover that after using one of the BELKIN set up cds my CD DRIVE no longer detects a cd in the drive!! is there any solution as i can't afford a new desktop as yet, and don't relish the thought of an 'add on dvd burner' unit! I tried looking for free drivers online to no avail and fear that the problem is terminal.
the computer is only 18 months old and i have seen similar problems on the forums.
Any help or advice would be welcome as lately it seems to be one thing after another with this computer-my recycle bin no longer detects junk files and my sonicstage packed up recording a while back !! do you think i should count my losses and get a replacement desktop(I had to fork out £1500 for this 18 months ago and the 1GB of ram is crippling my photo-editing) and if so, has anyone got any suggestions? Sony dont do desktops anymore and i am losing faith in the company-or was i just unlucky? regards, ardbrand
You say it doesn't recognise CDs - does it recognise DVDs?
Are there any yellow warning ! symbols next to your drive in Device Manager -> DVD/CD-ROM Drives
