Battery Not Present Problem

Does anyone have a problem where teh Laptop will not work under battery power? I repeatedly get a message that says "battery not present". The battery is relatively new and it has been charged. The clips are intact. This problem arises with both my batteries though at least one battery is periodically registered as present, with that one it appears that the battery will not charge above 0% after a few minutes of which it goes back to being "not present".

Help me please, anyone?

a simple way to check if this is a battery or possible hardware problem is to take your Vaio to a local stockist and ask if you can try another battery in your Vaio..

If your battery's relatively new have you contacted the retailer because as far as I'm aware your battery should have a 6 months guarantee..
