Tablet & HDMI Cable

I want to connnect my new Tablet to my Sony Bravia TV KDL32EX403, I bought a micro HDMI cable but neither my TV or Tablet recognise it, do I need a speciall Sony one or do you think I have a faulty cable, any advice would be appreciated.

no need for any special sony cable. it just has to be a proper one for your tablet. and  you might try turn on your TV 1st and then your tablet.

Thanks for replying but I have tried that (turning the TV on first and then the tablet) Maybe I have the wrong cable but all seems to connect up ok.  Am trying to contact the company I bought the cable from but no luck so far!
