Hello,
The remote control for my Sony KDL-37P3020 has stopped working. I purchased another remote control but it is not working either. I am fairly sure that the new remote control ‘has power’ but the television is not recognizing it. I have tried using the menu options on the television itself but can find nothing about remote control set up.
Is there anything else that I can try eg resetting the TV (if so how ?), pressing and holding certain ‘pairing’ buttons on the new remote etc ?
Any advice would be much appreciated.
Thank you.
Have you tried the mobile phone camera trick to see if your remote controls are working, you can look that up on the internet.
If you find that the remote controls are emitting a signal then you may find that the signal detector on the TV has failed.
If so a repair may be needed, but could be more expensive than buying a new TV.
Thanks for your reply. Yes, I tried the mobile phone trick and the new remote is working, according to that test.
Is there anything else worth trying before purchasing a new TV or a potentially expensive repair ?
The TV dates back to 2008, so it has had a pretty good run.
A repair of a TV that age may not be viable due to lack of parts, and at 17 years old
it may start failing in other areas.
Best bet buy a new TV and revel in how far screen technology has come on,
even though TV programmes have not.
