Music Player will not recognize WMA

I'm trying to move my music files from my laptop to my phone. No Problem. I can find the files but the standard music player does not support WMA. Why is this? More importantly how can I fix it.

Thanks, most excellent. I just downloaded poweramp and it works perfect. Uninstalled stock player.

anytime but I prefer to use Music by google, if you live in the US you can test drive the cloud part of the app
