I'm not able to add second Gmail account to my xperia mini pro

Hi folks,

I was trying to add my second gmail account to my xperia mini pro. It is running on 2.1 version .As per the instructions in website I tried to add second account from accounts and setting page, after Keying in login name and password , it says it will take 5 minutes but after 2 minutes returns error "can't esablish reliable data connection to server"  . My data connection is fine and other apps are able to connect to internet through wi-fi or EDGE without any issue. I tried to write to get in touch with customer care through mail, but unfortunatley no response from them other than auto reply.

If anybody knw how to fix this, Please help me out.

You can only have 1 Gmail account on the phone, you can have multiple email accounts but only one Gmail account.

I haven't tried it but I wonder if you use a third party app like K-9 or MailDroid, if that would let you set up a second account.  The phone needs to have one main account to run services such as talk / market and the Gmail app. 

The mail apps mentioned are free and all you would need is the IMAP or POP3 settings for Google Mail, if they are available.

I saw the procedure "setup mutiple google accounts in your phone " from support tips on the phone only!!!  I tried this and didn't work for me anyway. Kinldy recheck and confirm this

Hi Sudheesh, you are correct Android 2.1 supports multiple GMail accounts. As such there shouldnt be any problem while adding a new account. Are you still facing this problem?

On opening the GMail app -> Press Menu -> Accounts

This should list the accounts you are having. Select Add Account. Give your GMail userid/pwd. This should work. As per your post, you are facing an error while doing this.

If so, what you can try doing is:

go to Settings - > Accounts & sync

Below Manage accounts, select Add account;

select Google

select Next

select Sign-in

give your user-id/pwd

see if this works.

IF it doesnt, check if this works

Go to settings -> Applications -> Manage applications* -> Gmail -> Clear cache

*Remember to filter your applications to All

Repeat the above steps to add the new account in either of the 2 ways.

Okay, can you try one thing, remove the account which is currently working, and try to add the other one (which is giving the connection problem) alone. Let me know whether this is working. if this is working, to this try adding the previous working GMail account and see if you are getting the same error.

HI ..I successfully added multiple google accounts ..after repairing the firmware once. first accounts is main account comes on to gtalk and market account , Rest for mails.  Worked !! thanks for support from all your guys
