recently i bought this mobile Xperia M . whenever i play games or i use messanger for 15 minutes it is getting hot. is this normal or any fault with thismobile .
Solved! Go to Solution.
That's normal, if the phone gets too hot it will shut down. Its normal that if you play heavy games (most games are now a days) or use the phone for long periods of times it will get hot, don't worry about it.
Don't forget to give kudos.
It isn't normal. Phone can become warm after 1 hour- not 15 minutes!
In my point of view .. as every manufacturer uses the chips from some coulpe of companies like Qualcomm, Mediatec etc .. the inside part is same ... So heat generated is same for the same model of chip ... so if ur phone's body is getting hot it is a good sign, as heat had been conducted from the chip to the phone body ...so the phone's body is working like an heat sink ...
and if the heat conductiveity is not that good, then the phone will not get heated that much ... and the heat stays inside the chip, thus lowering life time of the chip ... ..
I bought an Xperia M on 6th September. It does have a problem of heating I feel. It gets hot in 10 minutes even WHEN NOT PLAYING GAMES. on normal scrolling through settings etc and usind maps without even GPS or Wifi on. also it is showing temperature of 39 degrees C within 10 mins. while when idle it was 30 degrees. temperature rising 9 degrees C in ten minutes of normal use does nt seem normal to me. Otherwise the phone is just perfect in every respect. No problems whatsoever.
Incidentally, the CPU usage is consistently below 60% and average about 35% to 40% during the 10 mins when it heats up. Free RAM was also not an issue. The temps referred to are battery temperatures measured by DU battery Saver App and two other apps before that and all gave similar readings under similar situations. Also I am using a proper micro sim of 64K and good signal strength of -71.
Would love a response from Sony whether I should be taking it to service centre or not.
And yes, i used the same test conditions at the same time for my colleague's Micromax 116HD and all the time his phone never breached 35 degrees centigrade. I suppose that phone having bigger screen and more pixels to push and 4 cores to run shouldve run hotter than mine . Felt like a fool for buying a brand .... he was literally laughing at me
The new software update seems to have considerably lessened the heating issue i think.. installed it last evening..15.1.C.1.17
With new firmware is better? The phone doesn't get hot?
Well I did find my fone getting quite hot within 10 minutes of very light use. After the update i find it is not getting as hot as it used to and not as often. Sometimes it does try to remind me that it is a hot headed little fellow but not as often. Since the only thing i did was update the software i guess that put some control on its hot headedness. However, I still say that Xperia M is more prone to heating than other phones even those with mediatek 6589 Quad core processors. Qualcomm claims the 28nm krait inside the Xperia M has wonderful thermal and power management but i regret to say it it not so based on my experience with Xperia M. since the mediatek 6589 as well as the MSM8627 are both 28nm based i think the problem is with the adreno 305 GPU which heats up the fone. I wonder if the slow dual core processor running at 972 max and this GPU is a good match.
