Lost WiFi connection when sleeping/locked

I upgraded to an Xperia M today and I am having problems keeping the WiFi connection when the phone sleeps. In the WiFi settings:

"Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" is set to "Always"

"Scanning always available" is checked

"Avoid poor connections" is unchecked

"Wi-Fi frequency band" is set to "Auto"

"Wi-Fi optimization" is unchecked

"Auto IP support" is checked

I have tried connecting with DHCP and Static, both are losing the connection. After messing with the phone trying to get the WiFi to connect all day, I am ready to go back and undo the upgrade. I've read through most of the threads involving WiFi issues here and none have worked to resolve the loss while sleeping issue. Any help is greatly appreciated!

It looks like it may have been a hardware issue. I returned the phone today and received a new Xperia M. So far there haven't been any WiFi issues like there were in the previous phone.

Do you have any power saver active?

I do not have any power management settings active:

"STAMINA mode" is off

"Low battery mode" is off

"Location based Wi-Fi" is off

I have also done some further testing with routers after my inital post. I tried locking in the MAC address for the phone on the router, but that didn't resolve the issue. I also tested the phone on two different routers and the same issue occurs.

Edit:

Also when I click on the SSID connection to view its status, I get the following:

Status: Connected

Signal strength: Excellent

Link speed: 65Mbps

Security: WPA/WPA2 PSK

but there is no actual connectivity happening. Apps can't connect and trying the native browser and Google Chrome both result in "You are offline"/"The webpage is not available" pages.

Current build on the phone is 15.4.A.0.23 and model number is C1904.
