FM Radio stations hard to receive

I have been unable to receive virtually any FM radio stations including strong local ones.  My HTC and Nokia N95 weren't great but much better but my M2 cycles through the entire band without finding one station.  Slight improvements can be had when manually entering frequencies by holding the phone up and waving it about but it is a real strain to hear and on the move it simply goes quickly.  The headphones seem fine to me so why can't I receive any stations?  I have resorted to downloading the BBC Radio iPlayer app to listen but this cuts out when I go into an area with poor internet.  Any suggestions.

It only finds 2 stations itself but manually I can receive a few more.  A vast improvement on what it was before thank you!
