That is not a virus but is classed as Malware/Adware - You could try installing and running a Malwarebytes scan and removing cache and data from Chrome but if that fails to fix the issue then you are best performing a system repair but also check your Pc for the virus or any devices that are networked and or connected

Strange @Thommo, but you might be right. Searched a little about it.

I had to edit my above posts as it doesn't have the strings to be called a virus but it does have the strings to be called Malware

It would have been a next suggestion to clean up with an anti malware app.

This sounds like the same issue that the user Ferio1 had in this thread: http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-Z2/ads-problem-lt-lt/td-p/1028679/page/3

Turned out to be his account he used in Chrome. What happens if you clear data for Chrome under Settings -> Apps and then don't sign in in Chrome?

Then if I were you I would perform a system repair using PC Companion - This will factory reset your phone and erase all data so best to backup before you begin

Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the on screen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process

If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP
