hi just brought a sony vaio vpceh3n6e has it got lightscribe as pc world tell me it has but lightscribe diagnostics tell me no lightscribe drive available
Hi fishermick and welcome.
Sony do not offer any Lightscribe drive options in Vaios. The drive is a standard DVD SuperMulti Drive. That's salesmen for you!

All notebooks with Lightscribe should have a logo sticker on the palmrest. You can also look inside the drive tray for the presence of the Lightscribe Disc Encoder Sensor to make absolutely sure (see below).
nothing on the palm rest. but here's a photo of my drive
many thanks for your help mick
Hi Mick.
Here is a close-up of the Lightscribe sensor: -
I can't see clearly enough in your photo what the green thing is.
As I said, I don't think Sony support internal drives with Lightscribe.
hi mine has just got small dots of solder in it. i had pc world put a blue ray / lightscribe drive in but the lightstcribe would not work so they took it out and refunded me.they put my original drive back in and told me that it was lightscribe anyway.i guessed it wasn't they also told me you cant have lightscribe and blue ray togeather you can only have one or the other. but when you search online ie ebay you can find blue ray/lightscribe drives will they work in a vaio thanks mick
