If I bought a Sony television for my mother with my credit card, can she still use the Sony five-year guarantee? Or, will I have to use the guarantee as it is printed in my name? We have not yet received the form to activate the guarantee. Thank you in advance.
Hi,
it should not matter who pays for a product credit card or otherwise, the dealer should have printed the guarantee form off for your mother to fill in and send off to the address on the form,
this has to be filled in and sent off within a certain time frame.
Thank you for the reply. The dealer claimed their printer was not working and they would post the guarentee form. When they did send the form it was in my name, not my mother's. You would think the dealer, if heavily reliant on their printer, would have a spare or at least keep spare forms. They had also claimed the guarantee was based on the property not the individual person.
Hi,
you got that right with the printer!!, not very good on the dealers part is it,
regards the warranty it wont matter, im sure you have your mothers best interest at heart and should you need to use it then im sure you will be more than happy to sort it for her,
let her enjoy the tv and not worry about " a bit of paper" should you ever need to use it, or not!
I telephoned the dealer and they sent new documentation in her name. The only trouble is she has to sign to acknowledge she had in instore demonstration of the TV. But, she did not get this, I did.
Hi,
your worrying over nothing, just get her to sign the form, it will be fine!
