Some very strange occurrances on Sony US, and other places, Canada , Oz too.
I read that orders for PRS are being refused and not accepted in some areas, amid claims that back-orders have built up so much they can't cope with the demand - that's from Sony staff.
Another is that the manufacturers are not taking any more orders from suppliers, ( that's from the suppliers) new WiFi / 3G coming, keeping the 350 not 650, etc..............
All this, along with other tales of no problems, and orders being taken relatively normally..
Covers also seem in great shortage there too.
All damn peculiar. I don'twhat the rest of the product line is like, but the ereader bit seems to be imploding.
........................................Don't suppose anyone from Sony knows anything ?
Was in a Waterstones store this morning and the sales person there said that they haven't had any 650s for a while now, and they weren't expecting them any time soon.
He said that it is down to a shortage of screens for devices.
When will the PRS 650 be 'available' for me to buy one?
See this from another thread :-
I went into my local Sony shop today and enquired about the PRS650. None in stock and none to come, it was marked as 'End of Life ' on their computer. It was still listed as current in the 2011 shop trade catalogue. The salesman didn't know of a replcement.
And yet, and yet.......
Did a quick whiz round town today out of curiosity......
Waterstones have 350 & 650 on shelves [despite apparently abandoning them for while, and not advertising as selling them ] AND , covers, with lights ! Then, Currys also have both in stock [ but dear] , plus even the elusive red ones.
PCWorld have only Kindle [I think bit dear ].
Strangerer and strangerer.....................:smileyconfused:
