From the moment I bought my PRS 600 a couple of years ago, the battery duration has never been anything like the claims of thousands of pages in the advance blurb. It won't make it through a few hundred pages without losing it's charge, and as often as not will go completely flat.
I never leave it on standby, and I don't use SD cards, which I know is severe on battery life.
Anyone got any comments. I know it's probably out of warranty by now, but it was never any better that it is at the moment.
Just started to test my PRS 650 - the claims are for 2 weeks between charges, but I'm lucky to get 1 week. I leave it on standby and after only about 2 days and at most 100 page turns it has gone down to half charge. I'm using the Sony mains charger rather than the PC's USB to charge it, maybe it will get better after a few charge/discharge cycles? Powering it down completely overnight it hasn't lost any power (as you would expect) so the battery looks to be holding a charge. Might try a reset next if things don't improve.
Hi the best way to maintain battery is to ensure the unit is OFF, leaving in standby the unit will slowly discharge and if left for 3-5 days would be fully discharged, to turn it OFF press the power button the off position and hold for 3-5 secs, a message will appear asking if you want to shutdown the devise Yes/No, this will of cause mean a slightly longer loading time, but will greatly improve your periods between charging.
As stated in my post, I never leave it on standby for periods of time, and always power it down between reads.
It makes no difference, I still only get a few hundred pages reads before it's flat, and I always use the mains charger
It simply won't do what Sony claim it wil do on a single charge. It doesn't even come close.
Hi what sort of time period do you have between each reading?
How long in days does the battery last?
