Thalamus - having apparently lost mine, I looked this up.

£28 !  (plus p&p I expect ) Thankfully I found mine under the PC keyboard .

Think I'd invest in an eraser tipped pencil and rubber band to hold it on, which was fine till I found original !

Oops, just read Steve - blimey, I didn't see that, just £28, that was bad enough.

Mine broke as I was taking it out this morning. I have only had my PRS-350 for 7 weeks and wish I'd never bought it. This is the final straw!

Sony support say that it's accidental damage, so won't replace it under warranty. It isn't accideental damage, it's just not fit for purpose. I still have the first device that I ever bought that used a stylus, a Palm MXiii from 1999. Its stylus is still in one piece, as are those from my Handera 300 (2001), Dell X300 (2005) and Palm M500 (2009). These are all devices where the stylus is in constant use, whereas most of the functions of the PRS-350 can be operated by a finger, or fingernail.

I hadn't noticed what a cheap and nasty piece of rubbish the stylus is, until it fell apart. It's another example of Sony spoiling a potentially good product by shoddy workmanship and lack of support.

BTW Nedis are quoting £173.88 for a stylus??? They are out of stock anyway.

I suspect that the price is for a complete PRS350, but it's expensive even for that.

Anything over £1 would be too expensive for the cheap and nasty stylus supplied with my blue PRS350.

I would use one from an old PDA, but I'm afraid that it would scratch the screen. Every one of my PDAs has scratches from using the stylus supplied with it.

Surely that can't be correct Steve..

I think I (by accident probably) found the right price, £28,  - £178 sounds like wholesale price for a 350 ?

That's still on the pricey side though..

Sony are having a laugh, £28 for a fragile plastic stylus is ridiculous.

I'm going back to the shop to complain, the sale of goods acts states that goods must be reasonably durable. 7 weeks before it fell apart is definitely not reasonable.

Yes, your starting point should always be the shop/supplier, that's who your contract's with.

The SOG act sort6 of begins with the premise that goods / services should be "fit for purpose", and all follows on from that I think. If the stylus fell apart as you took it out, that sounds like a good case - and a decent supplier would accept that without too much problem. However, if you bent it at right angles getting it out, well, that might be a bone of contention.  If you trod on it/ran over it/fed it to the dog, things might get tricky.

Personally, I think a fairly vital piece of kit (very easily lost, as I've found out 4/5 times but been lucky enuff to locate ) on a device costing £200  should be capable of putting up with a fair bit of misuse -  especially at the thick end of  £28 +  !
