There are quite a number of us in the same position, I have a posting asking the same question and so far no one has been able to answer it. We have all tried, resetting to factory settings, erasing everything and starting again, and sending a Reader to Sony for repair and it still doesn't Sync!
There is a serious issue here that Sony are not addressing or fixing. There is no contact point for Sony to complain to either and people in Sony shops are no help, they only show you how to reset it and that doesn't work. I think there was either a disfunctional batch sent out for sale, or we all need a free software upgrade.
Considering the cost of the Reader, it is really bad on sony's part that they are not addressing this problem. I bought mine new and have only been able to use it in the first month. What a waste of money! For the same amount of money now I can buy a Tablet which works much better!
