Hi joyclifford,

When you press the download button on a retailer's website (such as WHSmith) you should be presen ted with two options: 'open' or 'save'.  If you press save, as you have done, this actually only saves the link to the eBook you've bought not the eBook itself.  What you need to do is take the other option to 'open' the file (I always remember to do this by thinking that if I want to read a paper book I would have to open it first - it works for me!)

Anyway, if you take the option to open, then your purchased eBook will automatically be downloaded into the Sony Reader Library software for you (and from here you can transfer it to your Reader device when you want).

Hope this helps!

P.S. A point to note just in case your eBook doesn't appear in the Reader Library: - if you have also installed Adobe Digital Editions software, it is possible that your computer will download your eBook to this software instead when you select 'open'.  (With the Sony Reader Library software, Adobe Digital Editions is actually included within it - so you don't need to install in separately).  If this happens for you, then to get the book into Reader Library so that you can transfer it to your Reader device, go to the menu at the top of the screen in Reader Library and click on 'File' and then 'Import Files'.  Your downloaded book will be found by going to 'My Documents' (or just 'Documents' on some computers) and it will be in a folder called 'My Digital Editions'.  Click on the title of the book you just downloaded from WHSmith and click 'open' and this will transfer it to your Library.  Hopefully you won't need to do this, but this is just in case you have also installed Adobe Digital Editions separately.  Hope this makes sense!
