Hi All,
I consider buying an e-reader, in particular, prs-650. I would like to find out if I can do following thing with pdf:
1) I will read pdf on e-reader every day (5-6 hours). Is the screen size big/good enough? If I use landscape mode, what percentage of the page is it without using zoom in? What is the zoom level of the page when the font is about 12 or comfort size?
2)Can I transfer pdf from pc to the e-reader. Is there restriction on what pdf i can use in the e-reader. e.g. does every pdf have to register to use.
3) Can I make note on pdf, can the note be transferrable when the pdf is copied to pc?
Thanks
Hi
I recently purchased a PRS-650 for similar reasons.
You can transfer and open PDF files on your eReader.
In terms of Zoom, the eReader has different level of text enlargement but it will only work if the the PDF was saved as Text document (e.g. scientific publications). If the file was saved as an immage (e.g. printed with CUTE-pdf) the document will be recognised as an immage and text enlargement will not work. There is an immage zooming tool but it is not practical for reading.
Note that the the text enlargement tool will change the layout of the page when the enlargement is above S.
Overlall, if your PDFs are saved as text document the eReader is a decent tool and give you a fairly good reading experience.
I hope that helps.
I have had mixed success with PDFs.
- some open just fine, and indexing works properly.
- some open, and display correctly, but any bottom-level index entry just returns me to the front cover.
- others refuse to open, saying "Invalid Page".
All PDFs are from professional organisations (Visa, MasterCard and EMV), and all perform correctly on the PC's Adobe Reader. To add insult to injury, the Visa document, which gives me Invalid Page on the PRS-650, displays perfectly on the Kindle!!
