New Computer - old ebook

Hello All

After buying a new computer  I have run in to an issue.

The books on my library and digital additions will not transfer on to my e-book but I can read them on my new laptop (which was not the idea).

I have spent a fruitless afternoon on the Sony and Adobe web sites trying to authorize my machine / e-book.

After logging on the Adobe site my "about Adobe" thing says it is authorised to my e-mail address but will still not transfer books from digital editions to my computer.

I have the same problem with my Sony library.

I can read the books on my computer, buy new books and get them on to the library but not transfer them on to the reader. As I am not authorised. The help information that comes with the library abandons me on the login page.

Have I missed something? I emailed Sony for help last week but so far I have had no reply and I must admit I am getting a little fed up with it all:smileyangry:.

Oh dear, nil respondum est......

If you're in UK try ringing them.

There are quite few threads/posts about this sort of problem, so a search should turn something up from an expert.

Worth a whirl......

Hello Again.

Updating the saga of old e-book new computer!

I spent an afternoon talking to a very nice and patient lady from Adobe:smileycool:, as Editions was surposedly the issue.

I've authorised and unaurthorised, uninstalled and reinstalled both edition and sony library 'til we were both blue in the face:smileysad:. Even going to the point of getting an new e-mail address and changing it on all the sites:smileyplain:.

But still no luck:smileyconfused:.

Any other ideas?

Looks like "new reader" , unbelievably, is the only answer - have you joined MobileRead ?  'Cos they might have a different angle on the problem, ......

It does seem a ludicrous situation - but if the point is to make you buy a new reader, a) it might not work 'cos the whole thing made you give up ereading   or b) you might get a different make anyway...

but....

it's probably something to do with the rabid fear of you giving somebody else an ebook,,,,,,,,,,,,:smileyplain:
