I bought a PRS-650 MS in Stockholm.
I installed first the reader successfully on my Dell (Vista) and could download books from the library.
Back on the boat where I am living presently, I tried to install the reader on my Asus Netbook (Windows 7 Home Premium)
Despite my efforts to correct och reload the driver routines it never worked at all.
When I connected it to my friend´s Sony Vaio (Vista) it installed successfully.
I would rather use my netbook to download books.
The error codes I got was code 10 (cannot start) and code 43 for the SETTING device.
Does anybody have a clue about how to correct or walk around the problem?
Thanks for any help!
Hi I believe the issue is the Netbook, they dont meet the requirements and in some cases the OS is cut back to save space and system resources.
Ditch the Sony software and install Calibre - it works on all platforms and certainly works on my netbook (Acer Aspire 1)
It could be the problem. Because I´m in a boat I use a USB-antenn to amplifly the signal of the local network.
Anyway I noticed that the file manager had problems with my other USB devices as well (external hard disk, mp3-player, etc) so I solved the problem by unplugging the usb-antenn when I connect other USB devices.
This turn around works quite well now.
So I download in the reader library, disconnect the antenn, connect the reader and sync.
By the way I have the W7 home premium so it should not be stripped!
SP1 is now installed and the file manager seems better but still not working well with other usb devices when the antenn is plugged!
