Hi nursery25,
When you have your Reader connected to your computer (i.e. in USB connected mode), it is normal operation for you not to be able to operate the Reader itself.
While you have your Reader connected, and the message on its screen says "Do not disconnect", I'd suggest checking in the Reader Library software on your PC to see if you can see Reader (with an icon) appearing in the menu down the left hand side of the screen. If you can then all should be well and I would see if you can successfully drag an eBook (that you want to transfer to your Reader) from the main Library window of the software (click on Library in this menu) and drop it on to this Reader icon. You should see the 'Status' icon revolve momentarily, and that should be it (in theory!). Disconnect your Reader from your computer - by first pressing the eject button alongside the Reader (circled below), at which point the message on your Reader's display should change from "Do not disconnect" to simply "USB connected" and then you can unplug the USB cable. If you check on the Reader now, I hope you should be able to see the book you just transferred.
Hope this helps, and good luck:smileyhappy:
Hello, Nursery25
Can you provide some more details about the problem, please?
I am assuming you have installed the Reader Library on your PC; Is this a Windows PC or an Apple Mac?
When you say the reader library will not open, do you get an error message?
What process did you follow to download books?
That'll do for questions at the moment!
Don't despair; there are some very knowledgeable people on this forum.

thank you for this email and I have managed to unistall reader libray and on re installing it it nows opens but now when i connect the reader to my tobisha windows 7 laptop the window on the reader charges the battery and once it recharges it tells me to disconect and i cannot sychronise the books I have downloaded.or get into anyother program on the reader unless i disconnect the usb cable.
Is it a 650/350 ?
If so, it's a bit odd...........
Because I've never been told to disconnect on either model, only "Do not disconnect" or "USB connected" which means it's safe to disconnect.
Unless I've been doing something so wrong it's abandoned me to my ignorance.............:smileyplain:
