I bought the 650 just over a week ago and have had to redownload the reader library and still no ereader link appears to accept the book in the library. I couldn't get any help from Sony but got some from Waterstones. However the link has disappeared again and Waterstones are shut for the weekend.
Can any one help?
I'll repeat my advice to others - ditch Sony's software and wipe out all traces especially if you are a Mac user - it is the most unstable software I have ever encountered. I use both Mac and Windows platforms (all the latest versions) and simply use the Sony software to "register" the reader then I install Calibre as my library.
Simply download purchased ebooks into Adobe Digital Editions and then load them into Calibre and then into your reader. I've used it for nearly two years without a problem.
It is a free programme, downloaded from their own site (google Calibre) - install it - read the manual supplied with it - you'll realise what a powerful tool it can be.
It probably won't allow DRM ebooks to be read/view unless a suitable plug-in is installed but it will have all the metadata installed and you can download the books to your Sony and read them but you must download the copy into Digital Editions from the retailer from whom you purchased the book.
It is not complicated once you've mastered the process but is 100% reliable which is more than can be said for the Sony software especially for Mac users.
Sony will not help because they are not interested in customer support but mainly because their advisors do not understand how their software works - ask them a technical question and they are stumped and/or take months to respond. I still waiting for an answer to a problem raised numerous times since I first asked for a solution 7 months ago.
