Hi
I have a prs 350 which I am trying to use on a different laptop. No matter what I do I keep getting a not authorised message,Can anybody help.?
Hi saladbowl,
Does the 'not authorised' message appear when you try to transfer a copyrighted eBook from the second laptop? If this is the case then I suspect the following may be the problem. If you have been successfully transferring copyrighted eBooks between your original laptop and the PRS-650, then both the computer and the Reader must have been authorised with the same Adobe Digital ID. My guess is that the second laptop has either not been authorised, or has a different ID to your first laptop. In the Reader Library software (which I assume you've installed on both computers) you can check this by clicking on 'Help' and then 'About Reader Library'. In the section that talks about Adobe it should say whether the computer is authorised or not, and if so the e-mail address that was used to register/authorise it.
If your second laptop is not authorised, one way of doing it would be to go to the purchase history section of a website where you have previously bought an eBook - most retailer sites will allow you to download the book again this way. Press the download button on the website for one of these books, and choose 'Open' when prompted. At this point you should get an on-screen prompt saying that the computer needs to be authorised to transfer the eBook. Make sure that you use the same Adobe ID (usually e-mail address) and password as you did for your first laptop, and I hope that from that point onwards all should be OK.
Hope this works for you.:smileyhappy:
