I loaded some books onto my e-reader a while ago I see them in the menu it says continue reading but when touched all I get is `protected by Digital rights Management` and cannot get to the book?
Hi miknigh13,
There are one or two possibilities why this could be happening, but I hope the following might give you some guidance towards a potential soluton.
In order to be able to successfully read copyright protected eBooks on your Reader, both your Reader device, and the computer you are using to transfer the eBooks to your Reader must be authorised with an Adobe Digital ID ..... also, this must be the same ID for both the computer and your Reader.
To start with I would check if both your computer and Reader are authorised - the process to find this out is similar for both:
Reader: from the 'Home' menu, select the 'Settings' section and then select 'About'. In the section about Adobe it will say whether your device is authorised or not authorised for Adobe DRM protected content.
Computer: start the Reader Library software and click on 'Help' (one of the options along the top of the Reader Library screen) and then choose 'About Reader Library'. Similarly in the section about Adobe, it will say whether the computer is authorised or not for Adobe DRM protected content (and if it is will also show the e-mail address that was used when first registering for an Adobe ID).
If either of the Reader or the computer are not authorised, then this is where your problem lies. If both are authorised however, I suspect that the Adobe IDs do not match. In this case you would need to de-authorise your Reader, and re-authorise it to the same ID as your computer.
For some general advice on authorising a Reader, I found a useful guide at the following link on Sony's website:
http://support.sony-europe.com/contacts/email/email.aspx?site=odw_en_GB
Type prs650 into the search box, and you should find in the list of results a PDF document with a getting started guide for PRS350/650. Section 5 (about purchasing eBooks) has some general information on getting an Adobe ID and authorising, whichever Reader model you have.
Hope this helps!
