Hi.
Wondered if anyone can help...
We have a SONY KD55X8509C which won't turn on properly. The lights on the LED bar come on every now and again, so we know it's not a power lead issue, and then drop out after about 5-10 seconds.
A couple of weeks ago id did the same thing then randomly reset - i assumed it must have been a software issue.
We have tried all instructions online from holding down the power button with the up, right or down arrows but the set won't reset and nothing is displaying on the actual TV screen at all.
If anyone has any ideas they'd be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance
I have come back from hols, switched my TV on which is the same model - and have the same issue. I some times get the google start up logo but then stops. Tried the normal resets.
Any one know how to do a factory reset on this model
sounds like exactly whats happening to my TV now.
Last night it reset itself 3 times within an hour then was fine. Tonight it just keeps powering up (white light below the screen comes on) for about 5-10 seconds then switches off again. It will then power up again without me touching anything and repeat indefinitely. occasionally I get a glimpse of the android logo loading before int inevitably turn off again.
I've made sure nothing other than the power lead is attached and removed the plug for several minutes to allow it to discharge power. I too have tried the hard reset procedures seen online (holding the power and volume down buttons while plugging it in) but i do not get the green light that they say i should, it just continues its cycle of turning off and on just the same.
I've had the TV 3 years and expect it to last longer than that. No reply on this issue from Sony for over a month speaks volumes. In future i'll be sticking with Samsung as my other TV''s have yet to have an issue and perform better.
Hi guys, I've got the same thing happening, white light comes on eventually and then goes off after 5 seconds.
Did anybody get this fixed , my TV is out of warranty and and I'm very reluctant to get another sony after the numerous crashes, sluggish interface on this one.
Is it work getting it fixed and how much will it cost me?
Am I better served buying a new set!
Hi @Goatfell
I think the best way to find out about the cost is to call your nearest service centre: https://locator.sony/en_GB/servicecenters

I am having problems to get Sony engineers to come out and repair my Sony KD55X8509C, because its still under warranty. I wonder if you are experiencing the same problem with getting your Sony TV repaired by Sony engineers?
I did try calling the Sony recommended repair center twice( regional repair center) but I gave up after 30 mins and no answer both times!!
Glad I didn't get thorough after I read all the reviews for the place, nearly all of them are 1 star.
I might replace the power board myself and call it a day on this set of our doesn't boot up.
Android maybe better now but my experience of on this set has put me off for life. Even when it worked I sat waiting upto 3 minutes for it to respond to remote control andthe batteries were new
