Screen mirroring

I am trying to use my new Ipod Air and mirror the screen onto my new Sony Bravia XR-48A90K tv.

Has anyone succeeded in doing this please?

It should be as simple as selecting screen mirroring, and then choosing your TV. Make sure that the TV and iPad are both on the same network.
